Ok, ok. I know that Hale & Hearty isn’t as unique as my previous posts but sometimes a girl just needs soup and fast! 10 veg is the only soup I’ve had at Hale & Hearty and I really like it, it reminds me of a coffee shop in Portland from my childhood. Also! I had great company for my lunch today, so who cares. I’ll take good company over good food any day.
Local, I adore you. You fed me lunch on my very first day of work and you remind me of home (PDX). You’re cozy, warm and always smell so good. The weather outside today is so stormy and cold. I’m hoping we get the 10 inches of snow the weatherman keeps talking about.
I had the sopressata and mozzarella sandwich ($9.50), it hit the spot. 4 stars you!
Sunrise Market is a great little market on Broome st in SoHo. They have sushi, bento, ramen, udon, and an assortment of groceries. They also have a great selection of candy! I haven’t had the sushi and Grommet Garage (which is directly across the street) but I have a feeling that Sunrise is much better. At $10 for miso and and two sushi rolls I think it’s a pretty good deal. 4 stars!
I’ve only been in NYC for 4 months and I’ve come to love Ba’al Cafe. The food is delicious, the service is fast, and it’s pretty cheap. I’ve had their falafel sandwich and this platter many times. For $8.00 you get a piece of yummy pita and three sides. So good. (Top photo stolen from Midtown Lunch)
Blue Ribbon Bakery Market is one of a 13 of restaurants under the Blue Ribbon umbrella. They range from beer gardens, to sushi spots, bakeries, and fine dining. (I had a lovely dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi on Sullivan street. I left extremely satisfied and a little broke.) As far as I know this company kills it with every venture they tackle. I stopped at Blue Ribbon Bakery Market this morning for coffee and vowed to come back for lunch after reading their menu (They also have amazing breakfast items, think quiche, or eggs with salmon). I opted for the cream of tomato soup and tuna melt. It was a little pricey at $19.60 with tax for both. After taking the first bite of soup I knew it was worth it. Both things were super delicious, I can’t wait to go back and try more! 4 stars.

To kick-off this lunchtime blog adventure I decided to go to Fiacco’s. Whoa! It was delicious! I had the eggplant parmesan hero, it was huge, and I’m now feeling guilty for eating (almost) all of it. The store is legit too! You can get meat, cheese, fancy canned Italian things and pasta. I found a jar of homemade pesto that will make it’s debut this weekend. This place is fantastic! I give it 4 stars.
